Vatulele is Perfection

"Before we went to Vatulele we'd seen so many photos of the island and knew it would be beautiful. This holiday was to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary, so we wanted to go somewhere special. As wonderful as the island looked in the photos, they didn't hold a candle to it's beauty in real life. This island is absolutely stunning. I was speechless the moment I spotted it from the plane. It has a gorgeous white sand beach that's great to swim in. We splurged and booked a room with a pool, which was great, but we would have been more than happy with just the beach to swim in. The island is covered with a beautiful rainforest and is full of wildlife. The kayaking and snorkeling is great. Lots of activities to do.
The rooms are big and beautiful. The pool was very clean and the deck chairs very comfortable. Every meal at Vatulele was a pleasure. The food is world class! Absolutely delicious. Each meal is 3 courses. We were never hungry during our stay. The seafood was always fresh - usually caught the night before. There is plenty of variety in the menu and it changes daily. On Saturdays, lunch is woodfire pizza. This was fantastic! You pick whatever you want on your pizza from a huge variety of beautiful fresh ingredients and 10 minutes later it's at your table. Another highlight was the 7 course degustation dinner which was held on the last night of our stay. It was very special. The chef and kitchen staff are brilliant.
All the staff in the restaurant and bar are just wonderful. They made us feel so welcome and spoilt. Each evening the resort has a happy hour with free beer, wine and daily cocktail. A nice touch! We looked forward to barman Joshua's latest cocktail each day. There are a few dining venues apart from the restaurant - beach side, in room, the folly and the wine cellar - all are lovely and romantic and easy to organise if you give the restaurant staff some notice. Dining in the restaurant is great too though, especially because that's where the Vatulele Band is each night. We bought their CD - both volumes. The coffee is worth mentioning. With each meal you can order a real coffee! Cappucino, latte, machiato - whatever you like. I thought this was great. The staff at the resort are wonderful. Everyone does a fantastic job in keeping the resort beautiful and taking care of the guest's every need. Lusiana the manageress does an amazing job. Vatulele is the place to go if you want a romantic or relaxing holiday with excellent food and beautiful views. I will definately return. I am so glad we picked Vatulele.
